previously involved in numerous property developments and business ventures. He held various
positions including the founding of Melotronics (the biggest retail electronics venture in South
Africa). He currently also serves as a trustee of the Equal Opportunity Foundation.

honours in Finance from the University of Cape Town (UCT). He has extensive experience in
both hospital and financial management. He is also the Vice Chairperson of the National Health
Network (NHN).
Dr. Ziyaad Bhorat is a political theorist focused on automation and AI, responsible technology and democratic politics. In addition to leading the Mozilla Foundation’s Responsible Computing Challenge in the US and South Africa, he is Senior Advisor to the Executive Director on AI Ecosystem Strategy. Dr Bhorat is also an Associate Director at the Center for Generative AI & Society at the University of Southern California, holding his doctorate in Political Science (Political Theory) from UCLA, and his MSC+MBA from the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar. He has moreover worked in digital media and telecoms industries across Sub-Saharan Africa, for companies like the Walt Disney Co.
Is a qualified medical doctor with extensive experience working in both SA and the UK. Ferhana
has previous experience in healthcare operations and is currently working as a Specialist
Anaesthetist. Ferhana is a non-executive board member.

transactions. He also advises clients on matters relating to the fuels and energy sector, as well as
the automotive industry. His experience involves listed and unlisted companies. Mohamed is a
